The mission of the AHEC program is to promote health careers and access to primary care for medically underserved populations through community-academic partnerships.
The mission is accomplished by:
- Developing health careers recruitment programs, especially for underrepresented and disadvantaged students.
- Supporting the community-based training of primary care health professions students.
- Providing educational practice support activities for health care providers.
- Collaborating with health, education, and human service organizations to achieve the shared goal of improved health and disease prevention for our communities.
