- Nurse Aide Classes: Morning and evening classes are offered every 9 weeks. This course is a total of 160 hours and upon completion the student is eligible to sit for the State Competency Exam for Certification. South Central AHEC's Nurse Aide Certificate Program is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Practical Nurse Program: 15 month diploma program approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing and includes all prerequisites. Classes are generally daytime, 9am-3pm. Clinical sites subject to change due to availability and will include evening hours. 2012 Term scheduled to begin September 2012.
- CPR: Classes are offered on a community-driven basis. On-site AHA BLS Instructor/RN to teach BLS courses to include Heartsavers First Aid/CPR/AED.
- Regional Test Site: South Central AHEC is a state approved test site for nurse aides eligible to sit for the state competency exam. Testing is administered every Saturday (excluding holiday weekends) by appointment through NACES.
- Health Careers Promotion: South Central AHEC and The Healthcare Foundation co-produce a Health Careers Manual for distribution to anyone seeking health career information and guidance.
- Virginia Health Careers Manual * 2012-2015 * $3.00 each
- Medication Aide Classes: Student must have a Nurse Aide Certificate to enroll in this program. This course is a total of 80 hours and upon completion the student is eligible to sit for the state registry exam.
- Collaborations with School Systems: South Central AHEC partners with area schools to provide programs for students on nutrition, exercise, science and math.
- Serving the counties of: Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania, and the cities of Bedford, Danville, Lynchburg, and Martinsville.
